The Clube de Canoagem e Águas Bravas de Portugal (CCABP) is a non-profit organization that associates fans of a sport that’s getting more popular each day among us - whitewater kayaking. Our objectives are the promotion and practice of this modality as well as environmental preservation of the rivers and their surroundings.

The CCABP already has extensive experience at the descent of rivers – we have "discovered" and made known most of the ideal rivers courses for this sport in Portugal - and an extensive international curriculum: Expedition to the Nepalese Himalayas; Expedition to Ecuador ; Expeditions to the Moroccan Atlas; Expedition to Corsica; Expedition to Chile and participation in events / meetings in Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia and Turkey.

Besides practicing, we also have experience in organizational terms, including several events and national and international meetings since 1990. Highlights for the co-organization with the City Hall of Arouca of the Festival Internacional de Águas Bravas (FIAB), co- organization of the National Extreme Kayak Circuit, co-organization of the National Waveski and Kayak Surf Circuits, organization of the Barra-Aveiro Waveski and Kayak Surf event, organization of our own whitewater festival PaivaFest, ... among many other events.

In parallel, we have made efforts to recruit new practitioners and to develop the skills of more experienced paddlers, through training sessions.

Only by uniting our efforts and individual experiences club wise, by setting up events gathering national and foreign participants, by organizing expeditions, we can contribute to develop the modality, earning more fans among the youth a bit all over the country. To evolve the techniques and the conditions for the practice of a sport that has in our rivers truly privileged conditions.
